Marousi is a suburban city NE of Athens, Greece. The Athens Olympic Sports Complex, the largest sports complex in Greece, is also located there. Its main street is Kifisias Avenue, and also contains four ISAP train stations and two of the Suburban Railway.
Marousi, a quiet northern suburb of Athens, was strictly a family housing area until the 1980s. During the 1990s and due to the development of excellent transportation substructure, (namely the Attiki Odos, Athens Metro, Urban Rail), the availability of land, and a public authority friendly to businesses it has been transformed into what is now known as the Financial District of Athens. At the turn of the new century the area now houses increasing areas of modern low-rise office buildings serving the Greek corporate elite, as well as many a number of facilities and infrastructural developments. The city remains a highly regarded domestic suburb in all areas, apart from the commercial Kifissias avenue. It offers a colorful range of activity to residents and visitors and a very comprehensive and modern variety of facilities, cafes, restaurants, multiplexes, sporting venues, shopping areas.
Marousi is road serviced by OASA (blue colour) buses and also runs its own small bus shuttle network (red colour). As for rail, Marousi is served by ISAP (green colour, line 1) with 4 train stations, KAT, Marousi, Neratziotissa, Eirinis, and byProastiakos (yellow color, suburban light railway) with 2 train stations, Neratziotissa and Kifissias.
